WESTREET ICE CENTER TO ONCE AGAIN HOST WORLD AXE & KNIFE THROWING LEAGUE’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SPRING 2026
Tulsa’s premier multi-purpose venue renews partnership with WAKTC following successful 2024 debut
TULSA, Okla. — August 20th, 2025 — Tulsa Ice Centers is proud to announce that the World Axe & Knife Throwing League’s World Championships will return to the WeStreet Ice Center in the spring of 2026. Following the overwhelming success of the 2024 event, 2026's championships are set to take place once again in Tulsa, solidifying the city’s reputation as a hub for unique, world-class sporting events.
The WeStreet Ice Center — a 140,000-square-foot, multi-purpose facility opened in early 2024 — serves as the practice home for the Tulsa Oilers hockey team, the ‘AA’ affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, and headquarters for the Tulsa Oilers family of teams and venues. More than just an ice rink, the venue boasts Puck’s Sports Bar and Grill presented by Yuengling, a full-service restaurant and sports bar, alongside a pro shop, game simulators, and a second-level arcade.
After hosting its first-ever WAKTC in April 2024, the venue received high praise from fans, athletes, and event organizers alike. The 2026 championships will again feature a multi-day tournament, with competitors from around the world vying for a significant prize pool in front of a capacity crowd of approximately 1000 spectators.
"We’re thrilled to bring the World Axe and Knife Throwing Championship back to Tulsa, the energy and passion of this city make it the perfect stage for the world’s best throwers. This year’s competition will be bigger, sharper, and we could think of no more perfect place to host again than the WeStreet Ice Center," said Evan Walters, Commissioner of the World Knife Throwing League.
Sunday's finals will be broadcast live on WATL YouTube to a worldwide audience and free to the public. Specific dates, event times, and ticketing information for the 2026 championships will be announced later this year.
